Captains Call: Round 4

Welcome to the latest edition of Captains Call.

Not going to lie, last week I hit the nail on the head for most of the options I previewed.

Tolman and McGuire made an easy workhorse, Walker kept his point scoring form up and Rapana blew the tigers away with 15 points making him the best choice of Captain for last week. What I didn’t see coming was the donut Morgan managed playing against the Sea Eagles. I think even the most die hard Sea Eagles fan didn’t see that result coming.

Check out who I have review below and vote or even comment at the bottom of the page.

Ryan James (safe bet)

I know his name was thrown up last week but he wasn’t reviewed. He was an NRLCEO god last year and he has started this year in almost as good form. Three easy workhorse tries in which one he was one involvement of a double and last week he was meters and one involvement off a double again. I expect him to cross the line soon and against a depleted Cowboys it could very well be this week.

Matt Gillett (safe bet)

One of the most consistent second rowers going around, has made two easy workhorse tries this season and the only one missed was when he decided to knock himself out. Hasn’t crossed the line since round 11 last year so is about due.

Brett Morris (risk and reward)

Coming of the back of a double against the Warriors, Brett Morris will be looking to further his try scoring tally against the Sea Eagles. Last year when Brett played Sea Eagles he crossed the line twice, very strong chance that will happen again.

Matt Moylan (risk and reward)

Moylan is a quality fullback and towards the end of last year was scoring well. He managed 18 try assists in 19 games last year, a very good haul for a fullback. He has one a game so far but against the Knights I expect him to be right in the points. Granted Knights are playing a bit better than everyone expected, however they are yet to come up against a side with the quality of the Panthers.

Cooper Cronk (risk and reward)

Cronk had a quiet game last week and he very rarely has two games in a row where he scores zero. Top that off with the fact Storm are playing Tigers who I think, after sacking their coach, will only get worse before they get better. Averaged five points against the Tigers last year.

Who are you picking as captain for Round 4?
