The future is bright for NSW

The future is bright for New South Wales. Just look at the Holden Cup graduates running around the NRL of late.

Mitch Moses had his best game at fullback last week with 5 try assists, two line breaks and two conversions. Once Moses bulks up a bit he will move into the number 6 jersey partnering up with fellow graduate Luke Brooks in the halves.

Should James Tedesco, only 21 remember, progress relatively injury free he could possibly see Blues honours too. Add Curtis Sironen, who turns 21 next week, and David Nofoaluma, presently 20 years old, the Tigers could potentially supply a nice spine for the Blues. No wonder they won the 2012 U20’s Grand Final in a canter.

Alex Johnston is a speedster in great form for South Sydney. He continued his try streak against Parramatta and should surely do so against a Ricky Stuart coached Raiders outfit. He’s paying a very short $5 to score first try – equal with the great Greg Inglis.

The Blues of the future will need a couple of second rowers. Pauli Pauli has shown how big and powerful he can be, while Bryce Cartwright is showing everyone why he won the Holden Cup Player of the Year Award. If Cartwright misses an NRL game other than injury or suspension I would be very surprised.

Speaking of Panthers, Isaah Yeo is named in the second row this week. I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling you to pick him up if he is available in your league. I’d be very interested to watching how this centre goes. Although only slight differences, if any, in the modern game, it could be a bit too much.

Finally, Tepai Moeroa had a great game. Moeroa showed great tackling and awesome running in his limited minutes. I am unsure how his minutes will fair over the coming weeks but he has the ability to stay in NRL and I would personally take the risk on keeping him. Almost getting a workhorse on debut was a very good effort. Keep an eye on his stats in Workhorse Watch.
