Time to Lodge an application to sign big Matt

Clint Gutherson

Sadly Brett Stewart has been rather healthy this year. I wouldn’t have been so upset until last week when Clint Gutherson (above) had a cracker of a game. I thought he was the second fullback at Manly, it seems he isn’t as high on that list as I thought. Sadly this week he hasn’t retained his wing spot but I look forward to seeing him named in the starting side in the future. Remember his name.

Mitch Moses had a slow debut last week but I recommend grabbing him! This kid is as good as Luke Brooks as far as I am concerned just give him a similar amount of NRL games as Brooks has had to develop. Moses would be a better half than fullback but Blake Austin has been performing well for the Tigers.

Matt Lodge

Speaking of Tigers debutants, Matt Lodge (above – you might remember him as the C##t wristband man in the 20’s State of Origin game) had 26 good minutes of NRL and he had some awesome stats. 21 tackles, none missed, 87 metres from 11 hit ups, 3 tackle breaks and even an offload. As Geoff Adams would say in Workhorse Watch, that’s 1.26 Stats Per Minute. It also means he needs just 32 minutes of game time to get a workhorse if he keeps it up. Lodge was the best prop in the Holden Cup in Melbourne, his move to the Tigers brings him closer to home. I personally think he has what it takes to stay in the NRL and Potter doesn’t seem to be shy on using youngsters like some coaches.

I’m not sure on Fa’amanu Brown‘s contract situation at the Sharks but perhaps you should sure him up in your own side. People really rate Sharks Rookie hooker Michael Lichaa (the Bulldogs certainly do), but I would go as far as saying Brown is just as good if not better. Brown did a great job in exceptional circumstances last week. A Holden Cup captain could be a regular fixture in NRLCEO sides for the next ten years, I really like Brown!
