Tom Trbojevic

Tom has been named on extended bench this week despite a medial ankle sprain. It is common for players to return in 7-10 days from minor medial ankle injuries. If not this week then it is looking good for him to return in Round 6.

Nathan Cleary

The Panthers sharp shooter will usually wear the brace picture above for 4-5 weeks. He is reportedly aiming for a Round 11 return from his Grade 3 MCL injury which would be eight weeks since injury. If rehab goes well I would expect a 6-8 week recovery.

Aiden Tolman

The Bulldogs workhorse is confirmed have had surgery. Syndesmosis injuries that require surgery mostly recover in the 8-10 week range but I have seen a few return at the seven week mark and others at 12 weeks.

Dale Finucane

The former Bega Rooster suffered a fractured thumb in Round and will miss the next 4-6 weeks for the Storm. The Storm website said “It will be the first extended stint on the sidelines for the No. 13, who has been incredibly durable in recent years.”

Tautau Moga

Unfortunately the Knights have confirmed Tautau Moga ruptured his ACL over the weekend. He will undergo surgery & require 9 months or mote recovery. This being his first left sided ACL injury, signs are positive he will be able to return to the NRL at some stage. I wish him the best.

Moses Mbye

The Dogs fullback has been cleared of fracture and if he passes through concussion protocol he will be fit to play.

Richie Kennar

Kennar is out again this week for the Rabbitohs. Even minor hamstring strains are hard to return from in one week. It is usually a 2-4 week recovery range. Hamstring injuries have high recurrence rate of around 10-30%) and are at the highest risk of recurring in the first two weeks of return to sport.

Curtis Sironen

The Sea Eagles have confirmed that Siro Junior has an ACL rupture. This will require surgery and a 6-9 month recovery period which means his 2018 season is over. The poor bloke is only 24 but has played just 85 games out of a possible 139 games since he debuted in Round 12 2015.

Jordan McLean

With the Cowboys prop having surgery earlier this week on his Lisfranc (midfoot) injury, I have shown some examples of past Lisfranc injuries in NRL players and recovery times below. McLean is looking at a best case return in 12 weeks.

Kelepi Tanginoa

The Sea Eagles have also confirmed a ACL and MCL rupture for the bulking back rower. Similarly to Sironen this requires surgery and a slightly longer recovery expected to be around 7-10 months. Another season ending injury sadly.
