Round 17 Dream Teams

Round 17 Team of the Week

Alex Johnston has written himself into the NRLCEO record books for all time with the equal fourth highest individual score of all time. With five tries, a line break and a 195m metre eater he took the Panthers to town and made many CEOs very happy in the process.

It’s a chasm to the second highest score of the round, but make no mistake – Curtis Scott’s effort was just as impressive. This youngster has been kept fresh by Craig Bellamy as he uses him sparingly, but this was his best game to date. Two tries, a try assist, three line breaks, a line break assist and metre eater gave him 16 points and 31 points over the last three weeks!

I watched Michael Morgan live as he tore apart my mighty Raiders. He was seriously impressive, but he was also given far too much space to roam. He’s no stranger to high scores with two other 16 point performances in the last two years. In this match he scored two tries, setup two tries, had two line breaks and a line break assist too.

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to our old mate Anthony Don. With just his second career hat-trick, Don now has 48 tries in 78 appearances giving him a scoring ratio of 0.61 tries per game.

Overall Dream Team

His team is stalling and his scoring capacity has slowed down, but Jordan Rapana still leads the MVP standing after 17 rounds. He was on track for 200 points, but just four points in the last two rounds puts him in a hole. Both the Raiders and the Sharks both have the bye this week so he should retain the title for at least another week.

Dylan Walker stepped his way around a thousand defenders two weeks ago and reminded us of his attacking potential. He now has five tries in the last five rounds and with Manly firing looks to be a strong contended for the top centre of the year come the years end.

Long standing workhorse Aiden Tolman has been doing what he does best – tackling his arse off and it has netted him 17 workhorses in just 16 games. As usual he has zero attacking prowess with just one try assist to speak of in the attacking stats. Only three metre eaters as well shows that he is all about the tackles. With 632 total tackles he has the fifth most in the league and the most for any front rower.
