Round 4 Dream Team

Round 4 Team of the Week

What a beast of a performance it was from Coen Hess this week! The Cowboys are just littered with talent in the back row and I drafted Hess hoping he’d get some game time but I never expected him to score four tries in four games. He scored two tries in this round with two line breaks and a workhorse.

The “other” million dollar man has needed to step up for his club and Daly Cherry-Evans certainly did that against a pathetic Bulldogs outfit. He had his hand in five of the Sea Eagles seven tries including two line break assists which was his second best NRLCEO performance of all time.

Special mention goes to debutant back rower Corey Harawera-Naera for the Panthers. After a try, try assist and two line breaks as well as 33 involvements watch him get snapped up quick smart in your league. I’m not jumping at him though as he’s part of a big log jam in the Panthers back row.

Here is the rest of the Team of the Week:

  1. Tom Trbojevic (10)
  2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (11)
  3. Dean Whare (10)
  4. Dale Copley (10)
  5. Kalyn Ponga (9)
  6. Tyrone Roberts (11)
  7. Daly Cherry-Evans (12)
  8. Paul Vaughan (11)
  9. Issac Luke (10)
  10.  Scott Bolton (6)
  11. Coen Hess (14)
  12. Corey Harawera-Naera (8)
  13. Elijah Taylor (9)

Points based on: Tries (4), Workhorses (4), Double Workhorses (8), Metre Eaters (2), Double Metre Eaters (4), Try Assists (2), Line Breaks (1), Line Break Assists (1), 40/20s (1), Field Goals (1), Sin Bins (-2) and Send Offs (-4).

Overall Dream Team

We have a new overall MVP! Jordan Rapana has picked up from where he left off last year and whilst he had an up and down night against the Broncos he still managed a try, two line breaks and a metre eater (falling three metres short of a double metre eater). He also has nine tries in his last six regular season appearances.

Not far behind is Cody Walker who had his quietest match of the season but still managed four points through a line break, line break assist and metre eater.

There are three more players in equal third on 29 points but Paul Vaughan is the biggest surprise. Not a huge surprise as I knew he’d do well but I never expected him to be the leading prop at this stage of the season with a ten point lead over Ryan James, James Graham and Aiden Tolman.

Lastly, it’s a huge effort for Coen Hess to have started the season on the bench and now chewing up minutes and points over former workhorse guns Ethan Lowe and Gavin Cooper.

Here is the Dream Team at the conclusion of Round 4 (with total points in brackets):

  1. Tom Trbojevic (29)
  2. Jordan Rapana (33)
  3. Latrell Mitchell (29)

  9. Cameron McInnes (27)
  10. Josh McGuire (22)
  11. Coen Hess (28)
