Thanks from NRLCEO

nrlceo-thanks

It’s been another massive year of NRLCEO. On the technological side, probably our most successful yet. Not our biggest in terms of users, but those of you who have stayed on after all these years – you are the true NRLCEOs.

So firstly, I want to say thanks to all of our NRLCEO users. If we just loved the game itself, then we would probably still be playing on a spreadsheet. But we love making the best possible product and website because of you guys. You spur us on to keep going and your feedback is invaluable and the banter is the best!

Thank you to all of the commissioners of the leagues. You put up with a lot of shit (we can’t help you with that) but your leagues couldn’t exist without you. You guys are the real MVPs.

Next I guess we need to thank the players themselves. Without who none of us would be here playing these crazy games with numbers. Those who won their NRLCEO Grand Finals will forever remember the names of the stars in their teams. Even unnecessarily in years to come.

Thanks to the interview talent on our podcasts. From Craig Wing to Tommy Trbojevic, Bodene Thompson, Andrew McFadden, Luke Bateman, Zeb Taia and Kevin Naiqama. We appreciate each and every one of them taking the time to chat to the NRLCEO audience.

Thanks to NRL media managers Ben Pollack and Brock Corfe for helping independent fantasy games and organising NRL players to be on our podcasts.

There are a bunch of supporters we have on social media too. To Sports Banter – thanks for sharing our content for us on social media. Thanks to Matt Clements from Zero Tackle – for constantly supporting the site and helping us promote our game and content. He has gone above and beyond to help us survive and grow.

Thanks to Scott Beeby for designing the Dream Team graphics and putting the Team of the Week and Dream Team graphics together each week.

Remember James Douglas? Many of you will remember his Captains Choice blog which was running until about halfway through the year. Unfortunately real work got in the way and he couldn’t continue but we loved his articles up until then and we thank him for his analysis.

To Hamish Neal – a long time NRLCEO player and long time rugby league blogger. We thank him for his weekly Five Metre Gap articles look beyond the cliche analysis and bring you a unique perspective on rugby league. We’re glad to be able to promote his work and to have him as an NRLCEO user too.

Thanks to Will Marchinton for his weekly team talk previews. It’s not easy crawling the forums and interwebs to bring you the latest goss on all the players but he did a superb job. He also did a great job on the Moneyball Podcast as well.
A big thanks all of the live stats team. I don’t know why it took me so long to get this up and running. I guess I didn’t realise how happy people were to put back into the site. To Jeremy Claydon (who did 25% of all games!), Mark Rigney, Sean O’Byrne, Nick Keily, Ciaran Holmes, Will Marchinton, Adam Thomas, Matt Zwi and Simon Molnar. Thank you so much. The feedback I have received so far is that this has been the best improvement to the site so far!

A massive thanks to Mark Rigney – the leader of the live stats. Not only has he done stats for at least one or two games each week, he’s also taken on the administrative burden or organising the guys each week and preparing the spreadsheets. What a legend – and he’s a fellow Raiders supporter too! I just wish he could have won his Supporters League competition.

Kudos to Champion Data. Sure, we pay for the privilege of displaying their stats but they make the lives of Mick and myself so much easier by sending us the complete stats each week.

Phil Prior – our former Moneyball Podcast host and now fantasy expert at Fox Sports. He founded the NRLCEO podcasts and steered the ship up until mid season. We miss him but we thank him and wish him all the best as he outgrows and outshines NRLCEO!

Thanks to Ted Smith – the future of the Moneyball Podcast. He took over from Phil half way through the year and is bringing his own unique style of interviewing to the show. He’s already interviewed Craig Wing and had the highest downloading podcast in NRLCEO history – his analysis on the stats crisis at the beginning of this year with Kieran? From Champion Data. Also thanks to Jacko, Rhys and Marcho for making up the other personalities of the Moneyball Podcast.

Cheers to Mark Mallard and Mike Keys from the Tantasy Podcast. They first approached me three years ago with a proposal to do a weekly NRLCEO video. After agreeing their heads were better suited to an audio medium they have thrived ever since. Also thanks to Matty, Brett and Thomas for appearing on the shows at various points throughout the year with the boys too.

We are now at 87 episodes for both shows combined and I can’t wait for the guys to bring up 100 episodes early next year. Maybe Aaron Woods will come back on for that one!

We’re almost there! Just a few more thank you’s to come.

To Geoff Adams – our longest standing blogger and for very good reason. Bravo sir! You guys just can’t get enough of his blogs and neither can I. Workhorses are just so unique to NRLCEO that you can’t get your fix anywhere else. Luckily Geoff provides you with a feast of statistical analysis and a unique perspective each week. He’s now done 86 articles and we hope he can bring up the ton next year too!

Now onto NRLCEO HQ. Cappo – the God Father – without whom no one would be playing NRLCEO. I’m sure everyone playing today would thank you for the concept and your work and making the original game.

Thanks to Mig for everything! Literally everything. Mig is the engine behind NRLCEO. He’s the one who answers the emails, supports the punters in using the game, coming up with awesome concepts such as the Legends of League public competitions and more recently was behind the Supporters Leagues too. There is literally no one more passionate about NRLCEO and winning.

Last and certainly not least, thanks to Ben. Aka TheBench. We were on life support three years ago and almost had to throw in the towel. Enter the tech genius Ben. I think you’ll all agree we’ve gone from being a great game with a decent platform, to a great game with a supreme platform. He continues to impress us all with what he manages to build in between a full time job and three kids! Bravo Ben!

So as you can see there is a lot that goes into making this game a great community. Look forward to seeing you again in 2017.
