What if there was a rugby league representative team based on the players number of Twitter followers… Who would make it? Well there’s only one website nerdy enough to want to know – us!

The Top 50 players named below have a total of over 2,000,000 Twitter followers.

Sonny Bill Williams (@sonnybwilliams) leads the way in terms of followers with over 250,000 more than any other NRL player! Having an adoring audience in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and then supporters of Rugby League, Rugby Union and Boxing mean that he is a global superstar!

In terms of sheer numbers of tweets, Eric Grothe Jnr (@EricGrotheJnr) leads the way with 37,571 tweets since he joined on 10 July 2010. That’s an average of 11.65 tweets per day! On 10 May 2014 he sent a ridiculous 167 tweets in just one day! #GetYourHandOffItGuru

It’s daylight second until the second player appears… Lote Tuqiri (@LoteTuqiri) has tweeted 13,811 times (a massive 23,760 tweets less than Guru.

For the biggest tweets to follower ratio, Beau Ryan (@therealbeauryan), who was slow to join Twitter, has tweeted only 577 times and has amassed 29,893 followers since joining in February.

As a comparison, if the Rugby League Week Mole (@RLW_Mole) was a player, he would slot in at 15th most popular and would have found himself a place on the bench!
