The Top 20 Metre Eaters

Metre Eaters

We introduced Metre Eaters for the first time this year. We’ve had great feedback on this new scoring method so far with most competitions setting the scoring at two points for a single and four points for a double metre.

Here’s a reminder on what the metre eater is all about including all the requirements for single and double metre eaters.

As predicted preseason, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was the master of the metre eater. He shot out of the blocks with five double metre eaters in the first five rounds of the NRL. Then as we know all too well, he went down like a lead balloon.

Half way through the season now and we can reveal the top 20 metre eaters of 2016 so far.

The top dog of the year in none other than Josh Dugan. After missing out on the requirements in the first two rounds he has been eating metres for breakfast. Now with over 2,000 total metres he has racked up six double metre eaters for a total of 15 for the year.

If we never see Billy Slater again then the Melbourne Storm as still in comfortable territory. Cameron Munster has been dominating at fullback and has the second most metre eaters despite only breaking 200 metres three times.

The next two names on the list are obvious metre eaters. James Graham and Andrew Fifita each have 12 metre eaters each with Graham even nudging 240 metres last round.

The biggest surprise in the top 20 is Clinton Gutherson. After cracking his City debut this year, the Eels winger has been consistently getting single metre eaters each week.
