Captains Call – The Bagel Bunch
No Donut Club
One of the six top members of the ‘No Donut Club’ has had his card revoked, being one of my choices for captain this week it is extra painful as Aaron Woods came off injured with only 30 involvements and sadly only 118 meters. What is worse is that he is now reportedly out for 4-6 weeks but should hopefully miss origin selection because of it and run riot during that period to hopefully get a call up. Hard man to replace for the Tigers and any CEO with the unit.
We’re left with 18 active forwards and 21 active backs in the club with each losing 5 members this week and a few suspensions between the groups. Of those left any are viable captain options with the fullbacks seeming the best option at the moment in the backs with the ease of Meter Eater for those in the club. Make sure to check their average and opponent when selecting any of the 39 members.
Backs
As you can see the backs lose 5 members this week with 2 suspended. Adam Reynolds is back this week with a tough task against the Cowboys, Johnathan Thurston will be looking to bounce back and score some points this week but too little too late and he is out. Losing 2 halfbacks and 2 centres and wingers(allowing for duel position) leaves the majority of the backs portion of the club going to the fullback position with many of them getting the Meter Eater requirement with ease week in week out.
Forwards
Forwards also lost 5 members this week with 1 suspended. Two of the hookers managed to bow out. Isaac De Gois was an expected omission from the club but Josh Hodgson was not finishing well short on involvements only acquiring 30 against the Eels.

While I am aware there were in fact 10 players to score their first 0 of the year Johnathan Wright is omitted as he was never a captain choice even to the desperate. We say goodbye to Aaron Woods, Isaac De Gois, Josh Hodgson, Ryan James and Siosiua Teukeiaho from the forward. The backs lose Aiden Sezer, Clinton Gutherson, Johnathan Thurston, Jonathan Wright and Peta Hiku.

Only a top 9 this week as there is a 5 way tie for the 10th spot. The spread between backs and forwards is pretty even this week and unlike last the majority scored fewer than 2 tries. Huge week for Dylan Napa scoring a try and a double workhorse along with a meter eater. James Graham also managed a double.
My Captains
Rough week for me last year in one competition losing my captain Aaron Woods and kicker James Maloney during their games. Lucky I came up against those two in another comp where I had Ryan James as my captain. Michael Lichaa did the job for me but I should have stuck with James Graham.
This week moving forward I’ll be going with Sam Burgess in two comps. Also Jesse Bromwich shall be my captain in two comps this week after a strong performance last week and missing Aaron Woods and it being James Grahams turn to come off first making Aiden Tolman a great choice for those with him.
