NYC Graduates Making Their Mark

Shannon Boyd

Welcome to round one fantasy players!

Shannon Boyd is set to make his Raiders debut this weekend and I for one couldn’t be more excited. I reviewed Shannon Boyd after the Grand Final loss to the Wests Tigers a couple of years ago. He has had a full year to mature but I was excited by what I saw back then.

I described Boyd as a Country style front rower. Country players have less skill stereotypically but genuinely love the rough stuff.

I can foresee Boyd not taking a backward step in his debut. I believe he will get through some work, so you should see decent points per minute.

Boyd is one debutant I would definitely take a gamble on.

Meanwhile at the Cowboys another one of my favourites is named on an extended bench, Zac Santo should be the fullback in my mind, the guy plays with a lot of heart.

But until he starts games I wouldn’t look at picking him up. A back on the bench just won’t score points for you.

Don’t be turned off Dylan Walker by his number six jersey. He stormed the Holden Cup in that jersey last season. I’m sure he was a good mid-round draft pickup for many.

Speaking of 6’s Moses Mbye has also been named on an extended bench, I’m not too sure where he will end up when he gets a chance but he is a star. Keep a close eye on Mbye.
