Round 23 Dream Teams

Dream Teams

Round 23 Dream Team:

I found myself in a pretty bizarre situation over the weekend.

Manly (my mortal enemies) were playing against my beloved Raiders in Canberra. I’m a season ticket holder, so of course I was in attendance for the sunny afternoon clash, but sadly the Raiders are out of the running for the finals. Sure, we’re a “mathematical” chance, but I don’t hold onto that kind of false hope. Our season was over when we choked against the Tigers.

Nevertheless, I digress. I picked up Jamie Lyon as my kicker late in the year so I’ve had to follow Manly a lot more than normal. And he’s been killing it! So as I watched my out of contention Raiders getting pounded by Manly early I didn’t hate it. Particularly when Jamie Lyon scored. Twice. He along with Shaun Fensom and Blake Austin got me through the first week of finals.

With two and a half minutes to go on the clock the Raiders were ahead and I had enough points from Lyon to be happy, so I thought that I was going to get a win in both. But then the snake, Brett Stewart, broke our backs once again at home. He’s been on fire too and deserves his spot in the team of the week below.

We can’t go on without mentioning the outstanding performance of Ben Hunt on Friday Night too. He scored two tries, a try assists, line break and line break assist for 12 points and the performance of the week.

The full team is listed below:

1. Brett Stewart (11)

2. Curtis Rona (10)

3. Jamie Lyon (11)

4. Justin O’Neill (7)

5. Kalifa Faifai-Loa/Matt Duffie (9)

6. Anthony Milford (10)

7. Ben Hunt (12)

8. Tom Burgess (9)

9. Matt Ballin (8)

10. Jesse Bromwich (9)

11. Tyrone Peachey (8)

12. Shaun Fensom/Paul Gallen (8)

13. Greg Eastwood/Dale Finucane (8)

Overall Dream Team:

In five-eighth, Anthony Milford makes his first appearance in the overall Dream Team for 2015. The critics are well and truly at bay about whether or not he can make it in the halves. He’d still be an outstanding fullback, but he’s playing an invaluable role in the Broncos success this year.

After a bustling try, Jesse Bromwich moves ahead of Aiden Tolman and into the Dream Team with 93 points. He has three tries and 18 workhorses for the year from 21 appearances.

In the overall MVP position, Andrew McCullough clings to his lead, but he’s joined by another player! Amazingly young hooker Michael Lichaa has also now reached 114 points, but sadly it doesn’t look like he will add to that tally again this year after his injury on the weekend. A top four round draft pick next year for sure.

They are ahead of another pack of three by just four points. Incredibly. three players trail him on 110; James Tedesco, Curtis Rona and Shaun Fensom.

Here is the full overall NRLCEO Dream Team:

1. James Tedesco (110)

2. Curtis Rona (110)

3. James Roberts (91)

4. Dylan Walker (79)

5. Semi Radradra  (109)

6. Anthony Milford (94)

7. Johnathan Thurston (87)

8. Jesse Bromwich (93)

9. Andrew McCullough/Michael Lichaa (114)

10. Andrew Fifita (94)

11. Bodene Thompson (100)

12. Simon Mannering (103)

13. Shaun Fensom (110)
