Round 9 Dream Teams

Round 9 Team of the Week

The Uate Party is back! Akuila Uate scored his first hat-trick since Round 13 2014 and in the process scored more points in one game than he did in his entire season at the Knights last year! I heard of so many people who either left him on their bench or left him out of their squads this week. With his confidence back let’s hope we see Uate cross the stripe a few more times this year.

Another one to turn back the clock was Jason Nightingale on the other wing. Although this hat-trick performance was his second this year already. He has already equaled the total number of tries he scored all of last year.

Plenty of CEOs have been waiting for the old Billy Slater to return too and he looked good against the Saints. Two tries, two try assists, a line break and a  line break assist brought home 14 points and some well earned confidence. If he can stay injury free then we will see plenty more points for Slater.

The man feeding Uate the party pies was another player high on confidence – Dylan Walker. After breaking the Raiders hearts, Walker now has 34 points (including conversions) over the last two rounds. Last weekend he had four try assists, two line breaks and a line break assist for a total of 13 points.

Special mention to Adam Elliott as well. In Round 2 this year he scored his first ever NRLCEO points and he doubled that score this week after carving up a weak Raiders right edge to score two tries and two line breaks for 10 points.

Overall Dream Team

After 41 points in his first six rounds it’s fair to say Jordan Rapana has hit a snag. After a donut on the weekend and just six points in the last three rounds Rapana is still the MVP but he is now equal with the primary school teacher Tom Trbojevic. He takes on the Knights next round so he would be hoping to get over the line a few times against Ken Sio.

The first new entry to the team is quite a big surprise. There was a bit of expectation on Tim Lafai improving last year when he moved to the Dragons, but he stalled and only scored 40 points over the whole season including just three tries. Well he’s already on 55 points now thanks to 11 points on the weekend thanks to three try assists, three line break assists and a metre eater.

The next new entry is back in the Dream Team after a few weeks out. Despite playing lock, Josh McGuire is also still eligible for front row on NRLCEO and so makes his way back into the team after nine rounds of workhorses in a row including two double workhorses.

Lastly, the consistent Kiwi Simon Mannering on 54 points. He has only missed a workhorse in Round 1 and has three double workhorses already. With an average of 112 metres each game and 55 involvements he is a line break away from a double workhorse each week.

Here is the Dream Team at the conclusion of Round 9 (with total points in brackets):

  1.  Tom Trbojevic (67)
  2. Suliasi Vunivalu (55)
  3. James Roberts (60)
