Captains Call: Round 1

Welcome to the first installment of Captains Call.

Your choice of captain is the most important call each week, if you choose poorly it can cost you a game. So, if it’s Thursday afternoon and you still can’t decide then have a look at this, it might just save you.

At the bottom of this article there is a poll. Each week we will post this poll to get CEOs to vote for their favourites so you can follow or buck the trend!

As was mentioned in the preview, each week I will be reviewing five players that may be a good choice for captain whether it be a ‘safe bet’ or ‘risk and reward’.

James Graham (safe bet)

The most obvious. As I mentioned in the preview last week, James Graham scored the most workhorse tries last season with 34 which included 10 doubles. He was the only player to not miss one all season.

Sam Burgess (safe bet)

Back after a stint in Rugby union, Burgess was close to his workhorse best, managing a workhorse try in every game that he wasn’t injured (missed only two), while also picking up five doubles along the way.

Bevan French (risk and reward)

French finished with 17 tries last year. A superb start to his debut season. What makes it even more unbelievable is he managed that in only 13 games. Can he continue that point scoring form?

Mitchell Moses (risk and reward)

Started the season well last year with two try assists and two line break assists, on top of that in his only game against Souths he again excelled with a try, try assist and two line breaks. Will that trend continue?

Corey Oates (risk and reward)

Same as Moses, Oates started the season well last year. First game of the year he picked up a try, a try assist, three line breaks and was one metre off a double metre eater. He also managed a try against the Sharks in their only game against them. Will his form late last season haunt him? Will you toss the coin?

Who are you nominating as captain for Round 1?
