NRL v NRLCEO Ladder: Rd 6

NRLCEO v NRL Ladder

There were a few tight games this week but unfortunately no NRLCEO upsets this week. The most interesting result was the Raiders v Storm game finishing four points apart in both the NRL and NRLCEO scoring systems.

Let’s review each game from an NRLCEO perspective and reflect on which teams are performing better in fantasy land than real life.

Broncos 22 Vs Roosters 18

The Broncos continue to impress after their first week demolition. A staggering seven WH’s from the Broncos coming from six players. Andrew McCullough bagged a double while Corey Parker and Josh McGuire scored over 50 each with 53 and 57 respectively. Ben Hunt had an excellent game with 14 CEO points.

Jake Friend is back with a bang having the highest involvements of either team only failing on meters. Usually getting more expect him to gather doubles in the coming weeks. Shaun Kenny-Dowall is making the most of Blake Ferguson being out for the better part of the year and pushing for a contract renewal getting five points. RTS is dominating from the back again getting over 200ms running for 250 which is another mammoth effort, his signing with the Warriors has done nothing to upset his game. Dylan Napa has stepped up and is impressing from the bench with 49 involvements running for 127ms. Keep in mind the game went into extra time so the involvements for both teams are inflated but with the Broncos getting in the high 40’s low 50’s they are still bankable.

Sharks 22 Vs Knights 6

The Sharks get their second NRL win for the year and their third CEO win. Jack Bird is still impressing in his new role, scary to think he’s playing out of position and doing so well. Pick him up if he is still around as his position change should be in effect after next week. Andrew Fifita finally has the dominating running game he’s been missing but with a careless tackle will be out for a while Sam Tagataese will start this week and isn’t a horrible option as a replacement coming up against the Bunnies on Monday night, expect a lot of tackles from the Sharks next week. Michael Gordon is a player to cut. His move to the wing and then the bench when Ben Barba comes on is a worry as his kicking has been shocking this year in a low scoring team generally putting the ball down out wide.

While the Knights lost this week their forwards are still doing the work. WHs to Chris Houston and Kane Snowden both going over 50 is a great sign for CEOs. Snowden a low pick in most comps has been killing it this year, so much so he could shoot himself in the foot and be selected for the Blues with the poor form of Tamou and Fifita being out for an extended period. Dane Gagai is still doing well with three points in a bad loss, again hopefully not an Origin player for those with him.

Eels 16 Vs Titans 38

Only one WH to the Eels is a huge worry with Nathan Peats getting over 50. Tim Mannah and David Gower both scored 39. How Mannah manages to do this with such consistency I’ll never know but here we are again. You’d expect more defence from the Eels in a heavy lose which is concerning for CEOs with the likes of Anthony Watmough only managing 35 and less than 100ms. Granted he would of got a WH if he didn’t drop the ball so much. Tepai Moeroa is still out of the side next week, whether this is due to injury, form or attitude I’m not sure. I’m keeping a hold of him though as he is damaging when he plays and should be back in the side soon… I hope.

Titans are flying high with James Roberts bagging a triple, the guy just has too much speed to burn with two intercept tries. Greg Bird and Luke Douglas continue to impress with a WH each. Nate Myles managed a frustrating 37 being outplayed by Douglas.

Warriors 32 Vs Tigers 22

The Warriors were impressive this week getting a good win. Their forwards did the hard yards with all their WHs coming with ease, lowest being 46. Simon Mannering had a huge game with 57. Ben Matulino and Jacob Lillyman had massive games too both close to 50. Shaun Johnson managed 15 points including the boot, about time too with poor form this year.

The Tigers had another quiet game for CEOs with the exception of a few. Aaron Woods is killing it from the front running for over 200 again this week, falling eight short of the double though with 52. Brooks, Moses and Tedesco set up their four tries combining well for the Tigers, Tim Simona was on the back of two of those having a solid game. Don’t rush to pick him up though as he seems to have good games way too sparingly.

Panthers 22 Vs Manly 12

Jamal Idris is done for the year which is a huge lose for the Panthers and CEOs. Being replaced by Robert Jennings and not George which is a shock with George doing great on the wing first two games and is a centre naturally. Elijah Taylor went off injured after securing a WH. He has been named this week but if you don’t have rolling lock outs enabled maybe put him on the bench. Mathew Moylan is having a hand in everything with seven points without a try. His kicking is great too which begs the question if Soward will kick when he returns at the start or eventually. Josh Mansour continues his form and looks like he was never injured leading the team in meters with 148.

Jamie Lyon is back next week which is a huge boost as their replacement kickers haven’t been doing well bar this week. He leads the team around the park and if they are to turn their form around against anyone it may as well be the depleted Bulldogs. Tom Symonds was shifted to centre again but can hopefully last a full game in the back row next week. Jamie Buhrer finally pulled his finger out getting 52 involvements after getting 20 the week before. He is still going to ride my bench until he can prove himself consistently only getting two from five starts.

Raiders 10 Vs Storm 14

The Raiders almost came away with the win this week with NRLCEO reflecting NRL with only a 4 point difference. Shaun Fensom and Josh Hodgson have both been named despite coming off early last week, keep an eye on them during the week. Jarrad Kennedy continues to impress with 51 this week and a line break. Iosia Soliola continues to be the breakout forward this year with 49. Josh Papalii takes his WH strike rate up to 50% getting his third of the year.

Cameron Smith fell 1 meter short of a double which saved my hide this week as he was my opponents captain. Always a great option for Kicker and Captain. Dale Finucane and Jesse Bromwich continue to impress. Cameron Munster named at fullback again with Billy Slater out again. Be careful playing Storm players just yet as they have named a 22 man bench. Watch the late mail as there could be a change or two coming.

Dragons 31 Vs Bulldogs 6

The Dragons make it easily against the ravaged Bulldogs. Tyson Frizell gets a WH and a try but will sit out next week. I shouldn’t have to tell you to hold onto him as he is in great form. Trent Merrin has cemented his starting spot and should be due for an Origin recall. Josh Dugan is another player calling for a recall bagging a try and 2 line breaks. Benji Marshall is getting more involved getting 2 try assists which hasn’t hindered Gareth Widdop also getting 2.

The Bulldogs will be struggling until their side is back to full strength. Not much to say about their side with Aiden Tolman getting a double in James Graham’s absence. Josh Morris makes it three tries in his last three after waiting a year between tries. They have Manly this week and could be the team to play them into form, not a hard stretch to believe they can get the win though.

Rabbitohs 12 Vs Cowboys 30

The Rabbitohs have more information about their key play maker Adam Reynolds who is out for anywhere between 4-8 weeks. A lot better than first thought but still a huge lose. John Sutton could make a return next week despite not being named as could Dylan Walker. Both would be a huge bonus for the Bunnies as they take on the Sharks who have come into some form winning their last 2. Issac Luke had a great game scoring 12 points and taking over kicking duties hitting 2/2. Both Tom and George Burgess got a WH with George only 4 short of a double. David Tyrrell was 2 short of getting a try and WH double. Expect him to do more work next week if Sutton doesn’t return.

James Tamou has asked for a release to join the Raiders next year. Ben Hannant could be the winner from this as the minutes may shift from Tamou to him. Jason Taumalolo despite being one of the most damaging runners this year has gotten his first CEO points of the year getting a WH just scrapping in by 1. Michael Morgan and Johnathan Thurston were outstanding in the middle ripping the Bunnies back line apart and sealing the game. The cowboys back line has been chopping and changing so much its hard to trust any of their wingers or centres.

The Dragons are the only team with sub 200 in the against column while most teams are around the 300 mark. Be careful selecting two many backs coming up against them as they have let in the least tries this year.

The Bulldogs are still the big winner of CEO despite the heavy lose on the weekend up eight positions with the most points scored, in no small part due to their forwards. This should drop until their lineup includes the big Englishman again.

The Warriors are reflecting their NRL stats with their F/A only 1 point different between the two tables. After the big loss the Bulldogs have the most points against them but come up against the side with least points this week, could they be the team to play them into form with the return of their captain?

Good luck to everyone this week.
