Round 5 Dream Team

Round 5 Team of the Week

You had to be on the ball to realise he was playing but those on the ball CEOs were rewarded with 15 points from Suliasi Vunivalu.  His two tries, three line breaks, two line break assists and Metre Eater were impressive but it’s his high involvement rate which gives me confidence he’s not one hit wonder!

Only one point behind was his partner on the field Will Chambers. He only crossed for one try himself but he had a hand in plenty with two try assists, three line break assists and a line break alongside a Metre Eater to ice the cake. It was his best NRLCEO performance since he scored 13 in Round 22 in 2014.

There’s nothing better than a come from behind victory in the last game of the round and for many CEOs Jason Nightingale would have got them over the line. It was his second career hat trick after scoring three in Round 17 in 2014 and also got him off the nudey run for 2017.

The last significant return to mention is the enigmatic Shaun Johnson. He was involved in everything scoring a try for himself and having a hand in three others. With 36 points already after just five games he’s on track for his best season ever… but we all know that the Shaun Johnson roller coaster is due to go down soon too!

Overall Dream Team

It’s rare these past few years that you can predict the highest scoring backs. Normally there is a break away bolter at this stage but we Jordan Rapana is repaying the faith of those who drafted him. As the overall MVP, he scored another seven points over the weekend and that was without even crossing the stripe himself. With four try assists already he already has half the amount of assists he had in a full year in 2016. This is a player expanding his skills and NRLCEO value. Good first pick Matt Lewis.

From out of nowhere Shaun Johnson has rocketed back up the ranks. His 14 points on the weekend equalled his highest ever NRLCEO score which he achieved in Round 15, 2015. This weekend he got it through a try, three try assists, line break, three line break assists and a metre eater.

Locked in equal third is Tantasy Podcast guest Tom Trbojevic. Already nine points ahead of the next best fullbacks in Michael Gordon and James Tedesco, he is the new Metre Eater god having only missed a metre eater once with 131 metres. He spreads his point scoring across the different data sets.

Equal with him is Paul Gallen. The G-Train has had his best start to an NRLCEO season since 2015 when he returned 47 points in an amazing streak three double workhorses. He has kicked this year off with five from five workhorses, a double metre eater and two single metre eaters. His workrate has been good, but not quite outstanding…

Here is the Dream Team at the conclusion of Round 5 (with total points in brackets):
