Captains Call: Round 10

Welcome to week 10 of Captains Call.

Besides my team going down and the new injuries suffered, I think Magic Round was a great success. The atmosphere there would have been great. An almost packed stadium on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday for every game, that’s what we want to see for rugby league. With is being such a success, why not have two Magic Rounds next year? One at Suncorp, the other at the new Bankwest Stadium. Yes, it doesn’t hold as many as Suncorp, but it would be jam packed with 30,000 mad NRL fans for each game.

In my private competition, the Tookey Cup, we had four of our coaches head up there, so I set up our draw that they played each other this weekend. From all reports it made the weekend even more enjoyable and more interesting even up until the last play where Michael Morgan got sin binned. That coach still went on to win by two points, but it could have been very different.

Let’s review the five from last week:

James Tamou – 4

David Klemmer – 8

Isaiah Papali’i – 5

Maika Sivo – 3

Ben Hunt – 1

The worst of the week went to Ben Hunt. Against a team with the form of the Warriors, I expected Hunt to dominate this game. He only managed to come away with one line break assist.

Sivo would have walked away with a nice five points with a try and line break, however, his high shot on Jerome Hughes earnt a sin bin which shaved two points off his score.

Tamou and Papali’i both managed a work horse with Papali’i also grabbing a line break assist.

Best of the week was David Klemmer who scored his first ever double workhorse with 17 runs and 47 tackles. Huge effort from him, well done!

Let’s preview five for this week and don’t forget to vote or leave a comment below.

Cameron Murray

Murray has been on great form this season. He has only missed one workhorse but has crossed the line a few times as well as had a hand in a few other tries. Murray is a new style of lock which is working very well for the Rabbits.

Mitch Rein

Since the injury to Peats, Rein has grabbed the opportunity to start at nine with both hands. He has nine workhorses from seven games after grabbing a double workhorse from his last two games, can he make it three in a row?

Kevin Proctor

Another one from the Titans, Proctor has been in great form workhorse wise. He is eight from eight and although he hasn’t been offering too much in attack, his consistency has been great.

Cody Walker

Its rare to see a half leading the try scoring list but that where Walker sits right now going at better than a try a game. Add eight tray assists and eight-line breaks, it’s not hard to see why Walker is the best half in NRLCEO right now.

James Tedesco

Tedesco has been in great form for the Roosters. Last game he picked up three try assists and a try on his way to 13 points. If the Broncos aren’t careful, he will put another double-digit score on them.
